How do I scan a receipt?

Open the app and tap the camera button at the bottom of the screen. Point your camera at the receipt and tap the capture button. The app will automatically extract the merchant name, date, amounts, and tax information using on-device OCR.

How does email forwarding work?

Go to Settings > Email Forwarding to find your unique email address. Forward any receipt emails to this address, and they'll automatically appear in your app. The app processes attached images and PDFs, extracting receipt data just like camera scans.

Is my data secure?

Yes! Receipt scanning happens entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Email content is encrypted with AES-256 encryption and automatically deleted after processing. See our Privacy Policy for details.

What tax types are supported?

Receipt Tracker supports Canadian tax types including HST (Harmonized Sales Tax), GST (Goods and Services Tax), PST (Provincial Sales Tax), and QST (Quebec Sales Tax). The app automatically detects and separates these when scanning receipts.

How do I categorize receipts?

The app automatically suggests categories based on the merchant name and receipt content. You can always change the category by tapping on a receipt and selecting from options like Meals & Entertainment, Travel, Office Supplies, and more.

What should I include in notes for Meals & Entertainment?

For Canadian tax purposes (CRA requirements), you should document the business purpose of the meal and list the attendees. The app will remind you to add this information when you categorize a receipt as Meals & Entertainment.

Can I sign in with Google?

Yes! You can create an account using your email/password or sign in with your Google account. Both options provide the same features and security.

How do I delete my account?

To delete your account and all associated data, please email us at support@simple-receipts.com with the subject "Account Deletion Request". We'll process your request within 48 hours.

The OCR didn't extract the data correctly. What can I do?

OCR accuracy depends on image quality. Try these tips:

Receipt Tracker is currently free to use. If we introduce paid features in the future, refund requests will be handled according to Apple's App Store policies.
